In carrying out its mission the Council provides coordination and serves as a catalyst for collaboration among organizations. The goal is to preserve the rich heritage and unique physical, economic and social qualities of life in rural Connecticut.
The Council has a full-time executive director who coordinates activities among the member partners. We seek to:
- Enhance services and help ensure that rural citizens have adequate access to services
- Remove impediments at the State and Federal level
- Convene forums for information sharing and problem solving
- Act as a consultant on rural policies and programs to help shape the state's rural agenda
- Link with other state rural development councils, the National Rural Development Partnership and Partners for Rural America, Inc.
- Help create opportunities to ensure the sustainability of our rural communities
- Ensure that Connecticut’s "rural voice" is heard when State and Federal policies and regulations are developed.
