The Council has intitiated a number of exciting an important projects which are intended to have a positive effect on Connecticut's rural citizens and communities. They are described in detail in Projects.
Forums and workshops in business, finance, land use planning and smart growth, agricultural lands and open space preservation, growth management and rural road and bridge design guidelines

- Training for land use board members through the Community Assessment Program
- Partner with State Office of Rural Health on rural health issues
- Hold quarterly meetings including presentations by experts on timely issues and topics.
How are projects selected?
Requests are presented to the Council by its members or through consultation with town leaders, organizations, citizens groups or others. The Council decides whether to commit its own limited resources or to refer projects to other organizations for action as appropriate.
